things to do in Dubai for couples

Straddling the shoreline of the glistening Persian Gulf, on which the reflections of the world’s tallest skyscrapers dance, Dubai is a city of superlatives.

This playground for the rich and famous is also one of the most romantic places in the world, making it the perfect destination for couples looking to rekindle their spark or simply enjoy some quality time together.

And where you and your better half are drawn to fine wines and salivating gastronomy or prefer to get your adrenaline pumping with some action-packed adventures, Dubai will not disappoint.

As a melting pot of old meets new, of cultures and flavors, and of riches and history, there’s no denying that Dubai is a city that knows how to do romance – and if you’re looking for some inspiration on how to treat your significant other, you’ve come to the right place.

From luxurious yacht charters and private sailboats to hot air balloon rides and butterfly gardens, there’s no shortage of romantic things to do in Dubai for couples. So what are you waiting for? Get planning your next romantic adventure today!

1 – Snap lovey-dovey pics at the Miracle Garden

romantic Miracle Garden, Dubai

The colorful and photogenic manifestation of over 250 million plants and 50 million flowers spanning every hue of the rainbow, the beloved and longstanding Dubai Miracle Garden is a must-see for anyone visiting the city – swooning couples included.

Open every day of the week from roughly November to May each year (avoiding the sizzling summer months), this 72,000 square meter space is home to a wide variety of beautiful blooms arranged into elaborate structures and designs. Collectively, it holds the title of the world’s largest natural flower garden, with more selfie backdrops (lovebirds, don’t miss the tunnel of love) than you could ask for.

From The Smurfs Village to giant hearts and butterflies, the huge Mickey Mouse sculpture (made from 100,000 flowers and weighing 35 tons!), the Umbrella Passage, floral clock and floral castle, and the iconic and to-scale replica of Emirates’ largest A380 aircraft, there’s no shortage of photo ops to be had.

And with close to 1.5 million visitors a year since its inception in 2013, it’s safe to say that the people have spoken: this is one garden that’s well worth exploring.

2 – Soar over the desert in a hot air balloon

hot air balloon ride in Dubai

So long as you can brave the early alarm clock wake-up call, there’s nothing quite as romantic (or as Instagrammable) as a hot air balloon ride over the desert.

With views that stretch for miles in every direction, you and your significant other will be treated to a bird’s eye view of some of Dubai’s most incredible landscapes: from the red dunes of the Arabian Desert and the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve to the sprawling cityscape in the distance.

After a brief safety briefing, you’ll board your basket and take flight – rising gently into the sky as the sun rises over the horizon and bounces off the majestic backdrop of the Hajar Mountains.

Once you’ve reached cruising altitude, sit back and relax with a cup of tea or coffee while taking in the breathtaking views all around you. Keep an eye out for local wildlife (Arabian oryx, sand foxes, and Gordon’s wildcats) before touching back down to earth for a traditional Arabic breakfast served up in style, in the middle of the desert at a traditional Bedouin camp.

Hot tip: for the best bang for your buck, book a hot air balloon package that also included a dune bashing, quad biking, or camel riding activity (or all of the above) – you’re in the desert anyway, so you’ll save time and hassle by combining the excursions into one.

3 – Dial up the romance with a candlelight concert

candlelight concert in Dubai

Looking for things to do in Dubai at night? From the world-renowned Dubai Opera to the classical strains of the synchronized Dubai Fountain, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy an unforgettable evening of audible delights out with your special someone.

But nothing quite screams romance like a beautiful candlelight concert. A charming date night that can (and does) take place at surprise venues all over the city, these live music renditions are the perfect way to set the mood for a magical night ahead.

With a range of concerts on the calendar comprising both classical music (think orchestras and ballets) and more modern genres, there’s a little something for everyone.

4 – Head to the top of the Dubai Frame

Dubai Frame at night

Epitomizing the notion of old versus new, the Dubai Frame is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dubai, and for good reason.

Located in Zabeel Park and standing at a whopping 150 meters high, the frame offers unrivaled views of old Dubai on one side, and the other side showcases a panoramic vista of all the new developments and skyrises that have made this city what it is today.

After making your way to the top via lift (or if you’re feeling energetic, taking the stairs), take some time to walk along the near-100-meter-long glass sky bridge that connects the two towers for even more incredible views.

When you’re done snapping away to your heart’s content, head down to the mezzanine levels where an interactive museum awaits, tracing the history of Dubai through various multimedia exhibits including short historical movies.

As what is officially the largest frame in the world, the Dubai Frame is a quintessential stop for all couples looking to get a taste of both the old and new Dubai.

While tickets for the Frame itself are about 15 USD, many savvy couples opt to combine a visit with the Museum of the Future (5 minutes away by car) before checking out the Dubai Garden Glow on the other side of the Zabeel Park (about 20-minute walk from the Frame)!

5 – Keep your balance on the ice rink

Ice Rink in Dubai

A little cliche but always romantic, an afternoon spent ice skating hand-in-hand is the perfect activity for couples in Dubai, whether you’re seasoned experts or first-timers.

Although there are several ways to experience a winter wonderland in this desert city (read: hit up Ski Dubai to carve some fresh powder), the crowd favorite is the ice rink at the Dubai Mall.

Not only is it huge (Olympic-sized, in fact), but it also offers lessons for those less experienced, DJ hours where you can skate to the latest tunes, and even an ice hockey practice if you’re feeling a little competitive!

Afterward, warm up with some steamy hot chocolate or coffee at one of the many cafes that line the rink (or just step outside and let the Middle Eastern sun do its job as you stare up at the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa) or go all out and have a full-blown festive feast at one of the restaurants in the area.

Thanks to its location smack-bang in the middle of the Dubai Mall, you can shop till you drop after you’ve unlaced the skates too. 1,200 retail outlets and 200 international dining experiences await.

6 – Take a helicopter tour!

romantic helicopter tours in Dubai

At street level, Dubai may look like any other concrete jungle, but a bird’s eye view from a helicopter will show you just how unique and spectacular this skyscraping city of the future really is.

Couples can choose from several different tour packages that range from 12 minutes to an hour, all of which offer breathtaking views of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks including the Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, World Islands, Dubai Creek, Jumeirah Beach shoreline, and a whole lot more.

For those looking to add a touch of luxury to their experience, there are also private charters available that come complete with in-flight champagne and chocolates!

While prices for helicopter tours start at around $170 USD per person, this is definitely an activity that’s worth splurging on for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Hot tip: book your Dubai helicopter adventure online and in advance – it’s often cheaper that way and you can ensure you won’t miss out by leaving it until the last minute.

7 – Spend the day at the Wild Wadi Water Park

Wild Wadi Water Park in Dubai

Who says romance was all about fine dining and sky-high flights? If you and your partner are the adventurous types, then a day spent at one of Dubai’s world-class water parks is sure to get your heart racing.

One of the most popular attractions for couples in Dubai is the Wild Wadi Water Park, located just a stone’s throw from the Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

Themed around Juha, a beloved character from Arabian folklore, and offering over 30 different rides and slides (including the world’s largest water slide outside of North America), there’s plenty to keep you both entertained here.

From adrenaline-pumping thrill rides like Tantrum Alley and the Burj Surj to more leisurely pursuits like the Lazy River, Wild Wadi is the perfect place to cool off and have some splashtastic fun!

And when you’re all tuckered out from a day in the sun, refuel with some tasty grub and ice-cold drinks at one of the myriad beachfront bars and restaurants within walking distance (the Summersalt Beach Club is a crowd favorite(.

Hot tip: Certain Jumeirah hotels come with free admission to the waterpark, so if you’re thinking about hitting up the waterslides, consider a stay at the likes of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Jumeirah Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah, or Jumeirah Al Naseem, to name a few.

8 – Embark on an incredible desert safari

desert safari in Dubai

Forget the beach – if you really want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, then a desert safari is where it’s at.

This is one of those classic Dubai experiences that shows the more traditional side of the region. Hop aboard a dune buggy and prepare to be whisked away into the golden desert sunset for an unforgettable evening under the stars.

Your driver will take you on a thrilling ride across the sand dunes (hang on tight!) before arriving at a Bedouin-style camp, where you can enjoy a delicious barbecue dinner, try out some traditional henna painting, watch a spectacular belly dancing performance, smoke shisha, and more.

As the night draws to a close, snuggle up with your sweetheart around a roaring bonfire before heading back to civilization. And this is just one of the many different itineraries on offer! From camel rides to 4×4 adventures and stargazing trips, there’s no shortage of desert adventure to fit your speed.

Many desert safari tour operators will pick you up directly from your hotel, so be sure to ask about this when making your booking. Priceless memories (and some seriously envy-inducing Instagram snaps) guaranteed.

9 – Expand your horizons at AYA

Tired of the same old date night? Why not enter an entirely new universe instead? At AYA, you can embark on an otherworldly journey through this immersive experience.

Combining technology and art, AYA will transport you through 12 different spaces covering 40,000 square feet. Hop across rivers, admire tumbling waterfalls and encounter celestial pools. From the Aurora to the Source, you’ll discover an incredible array of scenes that come to life with light and music.

Taking your camera is a must so you can remember this unbelievable spectacle. You’ll also have a passport to keep track of your travels and mark each room. Located in the WAFI Mall, this is an easily accessible and unique experience for you and your loved one to bond over.

10 – Take a stroll along the city’s best beaches

best beaches in Dubai

Straddling the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, the UAE is blessed with no shortage of beautiful coastline and sandy beaches.

Whether you’re looking for a place to relax and soak up the sun or want to try your hand at some watersports, there’s definitely a beach here that’s perfect for you. But, the most common adventure – and one that’s entirely free of charge – is a simple stroll along the warm sands.

But which beach should you head to? Some of the local favorites include Jumeirah Open Beach (great for swimming), Kite Beach (a paradise for adrenaline junkies), La Mer (perfect for people watching), and Black Palace Beach (a secluded spot ideal for couples).

JBR Open Beach, with its fluffy white and powdery soft sand, is the biggest beach in Dubai. Umm Suqeim Beach dishes up Instagram-worthy snaps of the Burj Al Arab (you want to make the friends at home jealous, right?).

Al Mamzar Beach Park, despite an affordable entry fee, is wonderful for families. And last but not least, Mercato Beach has a distinct Italian meets Southern California feel, right across the street from the colorful Mercato Mall.

Whenever you lay down the beach towel, don’t forget to pack your sunscreen! Temperatures in Dubai can get pretty hot, even in winter.

11 – Book a ticket for a Dhow cruise

dhow dinner canal cruise Dubai

Despite welcoming many billionaire yachts and luxury cruises into its ports, Dubai has managed to keep its humble roots alive with a strong maritime heritage.

And what better way to get in touch with this than by taking a dhow cruise? These traditional wooden boats have been used by traders and fishermen for centuries and are now a popular tourist attraction.

You can choose between a daytime or nighttime cruise (we recommend the latter for that extra bit of romance), both of which come complete with spectacular views of the city skyline, delicious international cuisine, and live entertainment.

A range of cruises are on offer, each offering a spectacular vista depending on which area you want to explore: the Dubai Creek cruises meander through the city’s old-town district, while the Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach cruises take in all the glitz and glamor of the city’s most upmarket neighborhoods.

And, of course, the Burj Khalifa Lake and Dubai Water Canal cruises offer unforgettable views of the world’s tallest building and the majestic Dubai Fountain show!

12 – Learn a thing or two at the Etihad Museum

Etihad Museum, Dubai

Consider yourself a pair of history buffs? Want to beat the beat for a couple of hours?

Situated next to the historic Union House where the original treaty was signed in 1971, this interactive museum chronicles the formation of the United Arab Emirates, taking you on a journey through time from the early days of pearl diving and fishing to the country’s oil boom in the 1950s and modern-day skyscrapers.

Through the museum’s three main sections — The Union House, the Guest House, and the Visitor’s Pavilion — and the 10 halls in total, each one designed around a different theme, you’ll learn about the people who shaped this country and get a real sense of what it means to be Emirati, then and now.

With dedicated exhibits to topics like Geographical Insights, Canal Construction, Debates and Negotiations, and the Found Fathers, this interactive institution is far more than just a history lesson. Even the building itself is a work of art.

And, if you want to make your visit even more special, the museum offers private guided tours – just be sure to book in advance!

13 – Have a cute picnic in the park

picnic in the park, Dubai

After something low-key, with some dedicated quality time? Then perhaps a picnic in one of Dubai’s many parks is more your style.

With dozens of parks to choose from (not to mention beaches if you prefer a sandy picnic), you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to finding the perfect spot to while away an afternoon with your loved one.

If you’re looking for a breathtaking view and a relaxing setting, Safa Park next to the Dubai Water Canal sits in the shadows of the skyline and rarely draws a crowd compared to its more famous counterparts.

With options to rent a boat or play some volleyball, it’s always a pleasant spot. Bigger and more renowned, Zabeel Park – postcarded by the Dubai Frame and standing 150 meters tall – has more than enough room for a game of frisbee or football as well as the Dubai Flea Market should you want to pick up a few souvenirs.

A stone’s throw from the beach, Jumeirah Beach Park is one of the most popular parks in Dubai, and with good reason. It’s got everything you could possibly want: plenty of green space, a playground for the kids (or kids at heart!), a BBQ area, and wonderful views of the famous sailboat-shaped hotel!

And of course, then there’s Creek Park. Straddling the Dubai Creek, this sprawling green space not only boasts gardens, ponds, and a walking/cycling track but also a cable car, the Dubai Dolphinarium, and the much-loved Children’s City.

14 – Meet the sharks at the Dubai Aquarium

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo

A quintessential stop for animal lovers, the Dubai Aquarium is home to more than 300 species of marine life, including sharks, rays, turtles, and jellyfish.

With an impressive 48-meter underwater tunnel walkway, you can get up close and personal with some of the ocean’s most fascinating creatures as they swim overhead. Plus, with no shortage of educational programs, trainer talks, and interactive displays, you’ll have walked away having learned a thing or two and the local and global marine ecosystems too.

For that extra special day out, check out the Penguin Encounter, and be sure to take a ride on the glass-bottom boat which operates every 10-20 minutes for another rarely-seen perspective. And if you’re feeling adventurous (and have deep pockets), there’s even the option to go snorkeling with the wildlife!

You’ll find the coveted aquarium inside the Dubai Mall – an attraction in its own right that also plays host to the Dubai Ice Rink, Dubai Fountain, and an expansive array of over 1200 retailers.

15 – Try out camel riding

camel riding in Dubai

An age-old favorite, camel riding is a must-do while in Dubai! Whether you’re looking to add a touch of romance or just want to try something new, there’s no better way to explore the desert than on the back of these gentle giants.

With plenty of options for private and group rides, as well as sunset and overnight safaris that combine the camel ride with a dune buggy adventure, sandboarding sessions, falconry lesson, BBQ dinner, dance show, or stargazing session, you can tailor your experience to suit your own needs. Just be sure to wear sunscreen and drink lots of water – it can get pretty hot out there!

If you’re not quite ready to commit to an entire day in the desert just yet, then perhaps consider a horse-riding lesson instead. With several stables across Dubai offering both private and group lessons (not to mention some stunning beachfront views), it’s a great way to get acquainted with saddling up.

16 – Step into a magical world at the Dubai Butterfly Garden

Dubai Butterfly Garden

Right around the corner from the Miracle Garden’s main entrance is another one of Dubai’s must-visit attractions for couples: the Dubai Butterfly Garden.

Housing over 15,000 live butterflies from no less than 50 species in a controlled and temperature-regulated environment, this is definitely a place where you’ll want to have your camera at the ready.

Wander through the 10 custom-made, climate-controlled domes; explore the lush gardens, and take in the colorful sights and sounds of these beautiful creatures as they flutter around you, before learning more about their metamorphosis process at the butterfly museum located within the garden.

With a coffee shop, candy store, and food kiosk on-site to crush any refuel cravings, you and your better half can easily spend an afternoon here exploring – and taking photos, of course.

17 – Feel the thrill of indoor skydiving

indoor skydiving in Dubai

Have you or your special someone always wanted to experience the heart-racing rush of skydiving but are a little (understandably) nervous about jumping out of a plane?

Well, never fear! Indoor skydiving is the perfect solution and is quickly gaining popularity as one of the top things to do in Dubai for couples who crave a little extra adrenaline than most.

With two (and counting) facilities across the city offering different experiences – from first-time flyers to those looking for a more adrenaline-pumping session – there’s something to suit everyone.

At iFly Dubai at the City Centre Mirdif shopping mall, you’ll find the world’s first double vertical wind tunnel. Strapped into a special wind suit, you’ll be floating in the air with wind upwards of speeds of 200 km per hour hitting you from underneath. And, with state-of-the-art safety equipment and highly trained instructors, you can rest assured that you’re in good hands.

A little further out of the main strip, Inflight Dubai Indoor Skydiving is worth the 30-minute drive. Home of the world’s tallest wind tunnel, you’ll be nosediving, somersaulting, and flying like Superman in no time!

Of course, there’s always the option to take an actual skydive over the Palm Jumeirah – but this is the perfect introduction!

18 – Don’t miss the vibrant Dubai Garden Glow

Dubai Garden Glow

Exploding with color, Dubai Garden Glow is a must-visit during the cooler months.

Featuring over 10 million energy-saving LED lights, the park comes to life after dark with installations and sculptures spread out across four themed zones – Dinosaur Park (home to over 100 different robotic dinos!), Magic Park, Art Park, Glow Park – and a fifth and recent (although not-included) addition, the Ice Park.

Wander hand in hand through the illuminated gardens, snap selfies in front of larger-than-life displays, or simply enjoy some quality time together while taking in the festive atmosphere and regular live music. There’s also an array of food trucks serving up everything from Arabic desserts to international cuisine should you get peckish.

You’ll find this beloved outdoor attraction on the southern side of Zabeel Park, a short walk from the Dubai Frame and the Dubai Flea Market – do the other two by day, and then hit up Garden Glow at sundown!

19 – Tick the Burj Khalifa off the bucket list

Burj Khalifa, Dubai

The icon of the city, the Burj Khalifa is a must for any first-time visitor to Dubai.

For those looking to impress their significant other, consider booking a room at one of the Armani Hotels located inside – you’ll get premium access to the observation decks, as well as an overnight stay in one of the most luxurious hotels in town!

At over 830 meters tall, it’s the tallest building in the world and offers some of the most incredible views of the cityscape from its observation decks on levels 124 and 125 (the common viewing decks), or level 148 (a little higher at a little more exclusive).

While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a standard viewing deck ticket (it’s quintessential Dubai, in fact), there are a range of options if you want to add a splash of extra romance to your sky-high experience:

On level 122 sits At.mosphere, a fine dining eaterie suspended almost half a kilometer in the air that earns the title of the world’s highest restaurant. If you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion or just want to treat your partner, this is the place to do it!

For something a little more low-key (but no less impressive), take the elevator up to level 148 and enjoy a sunset drink at The Lounge – spread across the 152nd, 153rd, and 154th floors – while watching the city light up below you. If you’re more of an early bird, Breakfast in the Clouds on level 152 is a surefire delight.

No matter how you choose to experience it, make sure you add the Burj Khalifa to your Dubai itinerary – it really is an unforgettable experience.

20 – Take a day trip to Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi

Feel like skipping town for a day? No problem! Head over to our nation’s capital, Abu Dhabi, and explore the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

As one of the largest mosques in the world, it’s a true architectural masterpiece and well worth a visit even if you’re not religious.

The best part? The whitewashed landmark is completely free to enter (just remember to dress modestly, and book your visit via the grand mosques’ website)! For something extra special, consider booking a visit with a private photographer!

If you want to make a day of it, add on a stop at Ferrari World – a high-octane amusement park with rollercoasters galore that any car enthusiast will love – or explore the natural side of Yas Island, where you can catch a play a round on the golf course, wade through the mangroves by kayak, or simply relax on one of the many pristine beaches.

Want to hit up Abu Dhabi but don’t want to plan anything? Fair enough – that’s what there are myriad all-inclusive tours that pick you up from Dubai, show you all the highlights of Abu Dhabi, and then safely transport you back to your hotel at the end of the day.

21 – Pop into The Lost Chambers Aquarium

The Lost Chambers Aquarium, Dubai

Looking for something unique and romantic to do in Dubai? Why not explore the lost chambers aquarium at Atlantis, The Palm!

This underwater wonderland — which is, as the name suggests, themed all around the Lost City of Atlantis — is home to over 65,000 marine animals from near and far, including sharks, rays, jellies, and vibrant fish of all shapes, sizes, and origins.

You and your partner can stroll hand-in-hand through the glass tunnels, work your way through the 20 impressive marine life exhibits, and soak in the beauty of the underwater mazes as you watch the amazing creatures swim around you.

With options to take behind-the-scenes tours and also get up close and personal with the critters at the touch tanks, this is an activity that’s sure to create some lasting memories.

For that extra dose of adventure, sign up for the Aquatrek Extreme adventure – a fan-favorite 20-minute walk across the bottom of the Ambassador Lagoon.

22 – Carve up some powder at Ski Dubai

Ski Dubai

Craving a little winter romance? You can find it in Dubai – at Ski Dubai, the world’s largest indoor ski resort!

With 22,500 square meters of indoor skiing area, this is the perfect place to enjoy a winter wonderland without having to deal with the cold (or the crowds).

Kept between a cool yet not-too-nippy negative 1 and positive 2 degrees Celsius, the Snow Park is perfect for a romantic day out, whether you want to try your hand at skiing or snowboarding, build a snowman together, or simply enjoy a leisurely toboggan ride down the hill!

As for the slopes, you’ll find five routes of varying difficulty, the longest of which is 400 meters – one of the longest indoor slopes in the world.

And when you’re all done working up a frosty sweat, make sure to stop by one of Ski Dubai’s many restaurants and cafes for some hot chocolate (or something stronger) to warm you back up before grabbing a blanket and watching one of the latest blockbuster films at the Snow Cinema!

Take note: guests are provided with all the gear needed to stay warm, so don’t worry about packing any mittens or scarves!

23 – Witness the spectacular Dubai Fountain Show

Dubai fountain show

Always up there with the top-tie of things to do in Dubai for couples, the majestic and powerful Dubai Fountain Show is an absolute must-see.

The world’s tallest performing fountain, the Dubai Fountain shoots water up to 500 feet in the air (that’s over 150 meters!) and is set to a synchronized light show (with over 6,000 lights!) and accompanied by a range of songs – sometimes classical rhythms, sometimes pop tunes – that’s truly a sight to behold.

You can catch the free show every day at the base of the Burj Khalifa, and every 30 minutes from 6 pm. A stroll past is wonderful, and a table at a nearby restaurant is lovely, but for an even more romantic experience, the locals and seasoned travelers recommend booking a ride on one of the Abra boats that ply their trade on the lake.

Not only will you get some great photo ops of the fountains in action, but you’ll also get a chance to experience an age-old Arabic tradition!

24 – Head to the Dubai Museum

Dubai Museum

Both the oldest building in the city and a beacon for history, education, and culture, the Dubai Museum has long impressed visitors – couples and otherwise – with its intriguing collection of artifacts (both local and international from Asian and African nations with which Dubai used to do trade) and insights from days gone by.

From ancient musical instruments and weaponry to life-sized dioramas of traditional Emirati homes and workplaces that showcase life in the emirate before the oil revolution, the Dubai Museum chronicles the fascinating development of Dubai from a small pearl-fishing village into the bustling metropolis it is today — a must-see for anyone interested in learning more about the city’s past.

And with its notable location in the Al Fahidi Fort in the Al Fahidi Historical District, the museum is also a great starting point for a walking tour of one of Dubai’s most atmospheric and picturesque neighborhoods!

25 – Appreciate the collection at the Abu Dhabi Louvre

Abu Dhabi Louvre

A slice of Paris in the UAE? You bet! Art-lovers, take note because the Louvre Abu Dhabi is one of the most talked-about museums in recent years, and as a sister institution to the one that lines the banks of the Seine, it’s easy to see why.

Step inside and you’ll find an impressive collection of art and artifacts from around the world – including some loaned directly from Paris’s Louvre Museum – that chronicle everything from prehistoric times to contemporary works.

Around one corner you’ll stumble across archaeological finds and decorative arts, while neoclassical sculptures and modern and contemporary paintings sit around the next.

Across multiple floors sit over a dozen galleries covering 6,400 square meters, each sporting its own dedicated theme: World Empires, First Globalization, Universal Religions, Caravans and the Silk Road, Connected Modernities, and A GLobal Scene, to name but a few.

A stunning work of architecture in its own right, the museum was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel to resemble a traditional Arabic medina. Besides all the art, inside the masterpiece also lies a children’s museum, a cafe, and a gift shop, should you wish to take home a piece of the action.

26 – Wait for sunset at The View at the Palm

The View at The Palm, Dubai
credit to The View at The Palm

A sunset spectacular (although, admittedly, a sight for sore eyes any time of day), the appropriately named The View at the Palm is one of Dubai’s most romantic – not to mention, breathtaking – vantage points.

Set on the 52nd floor of the Palm Tower and perched some 240 meters high above the manmade archipelago, this observation deck boasts unrivaled views of the Arabian Gulf, The Palm Jumeirah, and beyond, with an immersive theater and plenty of insightful galleries to boot.

As such, it’s no wonder that it’s become something of a hotspot for couples looking to enjoy an intimate evening out before hitting the town.

And, true to its name, a glass of bubbly at the Next Level – level 54 – is always a special time. So whether you opt to share a drink or two as the sun sets or indulge in a romantic dinner for two as the city sparkles below you, rest assured that at The View, you’re in for an unforgettable experience.

27 – Take a boat tour of the Dubai Marina

Dubai Marina

Another one of Dubai’s most romantic places to visit is the Dubai Marina – and whole a stroll around the foreshore always dishes up restaurants, bars, and sparkling harbor views, a boat trip (whether on a yacht, abra, or sailboat) is considered one of the prime things to do in Dubai for couples looking for a little extra spice.

A man-made canal city, the Marina is home to a plethora of high-end hotels, eateries, and (rooftop) watering holes, as well as countless luxury yachts to ogle at. And whether you’re strolling along the waterfront promenade or enjoying a meal with a view, it’s impossible not to be impressed by the sheer size and scale of this incredible feat of engineering.

For an even better vista, though, why not take to the water on a yacht or abra (traditional wooden boat)? A number of companies offer tours of Dubai Marina – many of which cruise by other popular attractions like Jumeirah Beach and The Palm Jumeirah – so it’s the perfect way to see the city from a different perspective while soaking in the cool sea breeze, live music, and (depending on your package) tucking into a hearty meal.

28 – Go kayaking (near the Dubai Fountain)

kayaking in Dubai

Whether along the Dubai Creek, in the splash zone of the Dubai Fountain, or around the man-made lagoon at Jumeirah Beach Park, kayaking in Dubai is an underrated yet incredibly down-to-earth way to explore the city’s waterways and soak in that oh-so-famous view.

And what could be more romantic than exploring a new place together? Paddle past some of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks as you work up a sweat, and then relax on the beach with a cooling drink afterward. Trust us, it’s an experience you’ll both remember for years to come.

While there are several spots where you can rent your own kayak and explore at your own pace, a guided tour comes highly recommended. Not only will you get to learn more about the history and culture of Dubai, but you’ll also have an experienced guide on hand in case you get into any trouble – and one who can wax recommendations on cutesie restaurants for a post-adventure dinner date.

29 – Watch La Perle by Dragone

La Perle by Dragone show, Dubai
credit to La Perle by Dragone

A heavily talked-about extravaganza that combines acrobatics, diving, synchronized swimming, and theatrical performance with cutting-edge tech, La Perle by Dragone is one of Dubai’s most popular shows.

And it’s easy to see why. A truly immersive experience that will leave you on the edge of your seat from start to finish (especially when the diver launches from 82 feet high into the pool below), this jaw-dropping show is full of special rain and flood effects and is a must for any couple looking for a night of thrills and spills.

Not only is it one of the best things to do in Dubai for couples, but with 65 Broadway-seasoned performers taking the stage, it’s also one of the best things to do in Dubai period – so if you’re visiting the emirate anytime soon, make sure you add it to your list.

Shows run nightly at La Perle at either 6.30 pm or 9 pm), last for approximately 90 minutes, and start from 167 AED (about $50 USD) per person, but you can save a few bucks by combining your show with a boat cruise. Don’t think that that price tag is for the nosebleeds though; with only 14 rows of seats, there’s no bad seat in the 1,300-capacity house!

30 – Sign up for a romantic dinner cruise

romantic dinner cruise in Dubai

What could be more romantic than spending an evening on a luxury yacht, enjoying a gourmet meal as you sail past some of the city’s most postcard-worthy landmarks?

If you’re looking for something truly special, a couple of hours spent drifting down the Dubai Creek, around the Lake Burj Khalifa, through the mangroves of the Palm Jumeirah, or along the sparkling Dubai Marina (and there’s still more to choose from) is sure to fit the bill.

One of the most popular things to do in Dubai for couples; a dinner cruise aboard the elegant excursions typically include a multi-course meal, live entertainment, and panoramic views of the cityscape.

Hot tip: since you’ll likely be ticking off a handful of quintessential Dubai activities, consider a combination package, or opt for the money and hassle-saving Dubai Explorer Pass (more on that later!).

31 – Soak in the worldly cultures at Global Village

Global Village, Dubai

A spectacular melting pot of culture, cuisine, shopping, and entertainment, Global Village is a poster child of the City of Gold, beckoning travelers from near and far with its mini-world diversity.

And it’s easy to see why. With 25 pavilions representing 90 different countries from all around the world, there’s something for everyone here – whether you’re looking to buy souvenirs, try new foods, or experience traditional dances and performances.

While the entire park oozes photo ops, it’s the replicas of world wonders – think Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, Big Ben, the Taj Mahal, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa – that really make it a must-visit for couples after the perfect ‘gram snap.

Open from October to April each year (with extended hours during the festive season), Global Village is right up there among the top things to do in Dubai for couples.

And, if your better half is a night own, the Village stays open daily till midnight during the week and 1 am on the weekends, allowing plenty of time for a little continent-hopping (or so the photos will say).

32 – Stuff your face on a food tour

food tours in Dubai

Dubai is a city that fuses old with new – and when it comes to food, that couldn’t be more true.

On a food tour with one of the many local guides (note that each excursion differs slightly), you’ll get to sample everything from traditional Emirati dishes to modern fusion cuisine, all while learning about the city’s rich culinary history – and history, culture, and traditions in general.

With several different tours (and tastings) on offer, there’s sure to be an option that tickles your fancy – whether it’s a street food safari, a pub-hop, a cooking class, or a sample plate at a selection of the city’s most enviable restaurants.

While Dubai’s restaurant list can compete with anywhere in the world, not to be overlooked are the sumptuous flavors spread throughout the city’s souks: all of the Spice Souk, the Gold Souk, Souk Madinat, the Ripe Market, and the Textile Souk combine for a smorgasbord of flavors (and souvenirs while you’re there) that make Dubai a foodie paradise just waiting to be explored.

33 – Experience the immersive Theatre of Digital Art

A truly unique experience, the Theatre of Digital Art (or ToDA for short) is perfect for culture-vulture couples who are looking for something a little bit different to add to their Dubai itinerary.

Far from your typical art gallery, this one-of-a-kind, multi-sensory show combines world-class visuals with new-wave and classic music, projected gracefully onto the walls and ceilings through which visitors explore and admire!

Covering no less than 1,800 square meters, the Theater offers insights into both old-school traditional art and modern digital art, and also boasts a kids section (highly interactive) and a futuristic VR zone if you want to dabble in futuristic technology.

After soaking in all the immersive projections, experience the wonder of creations by the likes of Claude Monet, Wassily Kandinsky, Vincent Van Gogh, and Paul Cézanne, be sure to wander around the area — thanks to its location at the Souk Madinat (next to the iconic Burj Al Arab), there’s no excuse to avoid a little beach stroll or sunset dinner after the fact.

34 – Go to the VOX Cinemas Drive-In at Mall of the Emirates

VOX Cinemas Drive-In at Mall of the Emirates, Dubai

Because who doesn’t love a good film? Head to Dubai’s first-ever drive-in cinema and catch a flick in the comfort (and privacy) of your own car, enjoying the 20-meter-wide screen as you tune the radio into a designated frequency.

With a range of blockbusters, cult classics, and family-friendly films on the bill (simply check the website to see what’s playing during your trip), there’s plenty to choose from – meaning that you can make it as romantic or as low-key as you like.

Not only that, but with a selection of gourmet snacks and meals available for delivery straight to your car window, you won’t even have to leave your seat for refreshments. Of course, you’re not restricted to the candy bar like you would be in a traditional cinema – stuff your car with your own snacks and drinks and keep the change in your pocket!

35 – Eat dinner… in the sky!

A wonderful activity for couples as well as adventure seekers, Dinner in the Sky will give you a whole new perspective – quite literally – on Dubai. With breathtaking views of some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, this is one dinner date that you’ll never forget.

Suspended 50 meters above the streets of Dubai by a crane, this floating restaurant isn’t just for novelty — the multi-course menu, which you’ll see prepared before your eyes, is diverse – includes a starter, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic drink – and decidedly delicious!

It’s not exactly mind-blowing to hear that this popular date night spot has been crowned one of the most unusual restaurants in the world by Forbes. So if you’re after things to do in Dubai for couples that you really can’t find anywhere else, it’s hard to go past this eaterie.

36 – Hop around the city’s best rooftop bars

rooftops in Dubai

You’re on vacation, after all, so there’s no reason not to indulge in a little luxury – and what could be more luxurious than sipping cocktails under the stars with your better half?

Fortunately, Dubai is home to several of the best rooftop bars in the world. From the Skyview Bar on the 27th floor of the ‘7-star’ Burj Al Arab to At.mosphere on level 122 of the Burj Khalifa (the highest restaurant in the world, if you don’t mind), there are plenty of options when it comes to enjoying breathtaking views with a drink (or two) in hand.

But those two are just the tip of the iceberg. Overflowing with jungle flair, at the brand-new 25hours Hotel One Central you’ll find the Monkey Bar, themed all around the Amazon. Speaking of which, there’s also Amazonico – found in the Dubai International Financial District, it’s well known for its top-notch views are salivating South American menu.

Neos on the 63rd floor of the Address Downtown Dubai is more restaurant than bar (although make of it what you will if you’re thirsty!), while Paros on the 42nd floor of the Taj Jumeirah Lakes Towers mingles flavors of Italy, Spain, and Greece alongside its handcrafted cocktails.

Perched atop Address Sky View is the open-aired Ce La Vie, a hot-topic spot that boasts a delicious menu, extensive drinks list, and an Instagrammable window-side swing. Taking it literally up a few levels, sitting 310 meters above sea level and perched on floor 77 is ZETA Seventy Seven, home to a stunning view that will make any partner swoon.

There’s plenty more where those came from, so for a perfect date night, why not plan a little rooftop bar-hopping adventure?

37 – Add a sunset cruise to the itinerary

romantic sunset cruise in Dubai

As the sun beats down, a daytime cruise provides a welcome relief with the cooling breeze and sea spray as you sail past the city’s magnificent skyline. But as day transitions to night and the city lights begin to twinkle, there’s something even more magical about a sunset cruise.

Choose between a traditional dhow cruise or a sleek yacht, and enjoy an evening of sipping cocktails as you watch the Dubai skyline glitter in all its glory. Options are aplenty in terms of location too: sail by the Palm Jumeirah for a glimpse of the city’s most iconic hotels; past JBR and Burj Al Arab for a more up-close experience; in the shadow of the Burj Khalifa as you watch the Dubai Fountain do its nightly dance; or along the twisting Dubai Creek where old-world charm abounds.

Most sunset cruises include a buffet dinner with plenty of international options to choose from, and many have live music or entertainment on board to add to the atmosphere. But if you’re looking for something extra special, opt for a private cruise where you can customize your itinerary, food and drink menu, and onboard activities – now that’s what we call romance!

Hot tip: Boat tours in Dubai offer an exciting journey through the Palm Jumeirah, giving a close-up view of luxurious resorts and private beaches.

38 – Hear live music at the Dubai Opera

Dubai Opera

As one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities, it’s no surprise that Dubai is home to a world-class opera house. The Dubai Opera is a multi-format venue that can host everything from musicals and ballets to concerts and operas, making it the perfect place for a romantic night out.

With a capacity of just over 2000 people, the auditorium has been designed in the shape of a traditional dhow boat, paying homage to Dubai’s nautical history. And with state-of-the-art acoustics and ample legroom, you’re sure to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience no matter where you’re sitting.

If you’re not sure what to see, check out the Dubai Opera website for a list of upcoming shows. Or, if you’re feeling spontaneous, take your pick from one of the last-minute tickets on offer.

And once the curtain falls, a moonlight stroll around the Burj Khalifa Lake where the Dubai Fountain does its nightly dance is the perfect way to end a romantic night out.

39 – Get your dose of fine dining

fine dining in Dubai

Hungry? Dubai has no shortage of Michelin-starred restaurants where you can enjoy a romantic meal – and a slew of non-starred restaurants that will still have you salivating for more.

From the French fare at La Petite Maison (in the heart of Dubai’s financial district) to the Italian dishes at Zuma (in the international financial center), the Japanese cuisine at Nobu (at the Atlantis Resort), or the modern European food at Heinz Beck’s Social (on the Palm Jumeirah), there’s something to suit every taste – and budget.

For something truly special, book a table at one of Dubai’s postcard-worthy hotels or skyscrapers. The Burj Al Arab is home to several high-end restaurants including Al Mahara, where you can dine beneath a giant aquarium, or Scape Restaurant & Bar for an al fresco dining experience; then there’s At.mosphere on the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa with its stunning views of the city skyline;

Over at the Dubai Marina, Pier 7 is known for its exquisite diversity, with seven different restaurants to choose from and a 360-degree view of the Dubai Marina. And if you’re looking for a steak dinner with a view, Prime 68 on the 68yh floor of JW Marriott Marquis is hard to beat.

And if you’re looking for a more casual dining experience, there are plenty of romantic restaurants in Dubai where you can enjoy a leisurely meal without breaking the bank. No matter where you choose to dine, be sure to make a reservation in advance – these restaurants are popular for a reason!
