Calling all budding scientists to the Emerald Coast Science Center! Originally opening its doors to the public in 1989, the initial volunteer-run center was known as the FOCUS (Families of Okaloosa County Understanding Science) Center until 2001 when it underwent a name change.
Gaining in popularity as the years passed, the center moved to its present home in 2014 as a bigger space was required to hold its ever-growing collections and exhibitions focusing on the different sciences.
Today, young and old can come to enjoy the science center made up of indoor and outdoor exhibits, most of which are interactive. In the outside zone, visit the Marine Exhibit and hop on deck a boat to learn all about the mechanics of ships, or pretend to be a paleontologist at the Dino Dig Pit.

17 – Fish with the pros on a fishing excursion
They don’t call Destin the “World’s luckiest fishing village” for no reason. Many people come here for the fish alone. There are plenty of spots with fantastic fishing in Okaloosa Island, the Jetties and East Pass, and John Beasley Park in Fort Walton Beach.
