Discounts eligibility
Children under the age of five are permitted entry to Buckingham Palace for free, while disabled visitors, young persons and children are entitled to a discounted rate. Groups of 15 people and more are eligible for a 10% discount on ticket prices.

The State Rooms are open daily in July and August, while in September they are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

You can purchase Buckingham Palace tickets online through the Royal Collection Trust or via an online travel agencies, such as Viator or GetYourGuide. You’ll need to plan ahead, as the palace is very popular and only open to the public a couple of months each year, so it often sells out.

Highlights at Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace has an impressive history which dates back more than 400 years. It is one of the few remaining royal palaces in the world that is open to the public.
The palace is massive, with 775 rooms and an exterior of 120 meters by 108 meters. The State Rooms feature an impressive collection of art and decor, along with the Royal Mews and The Queen’s Gallery.
The Queen's Gallery
The Queen's Gallery features some of the most significant examples of Japanese art and design from the Royal Collection.
The Royal Mews
The Royal Mews is responsible for all the road travel arrangements for the Royal Family. Admire the Gold State Coach, the Diamond Jubilee State Coach or even try out a royal carriage.
The State Rooms
State rooms were designed to impress and could only be found in the homes of elite aristocracy. There are 19 State Rooms in the Buckingham Palace in total, including the Throne Room, the Blue Drawing Room and the Ballroom to name a few.

Getting to Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is located in the City of Westminster, in the center of London.
- By underground: The underground stations are Victoria, Green Park, St. James's Park and Hyde Park Corner, all about 10 minutes away on foot
- By train: The nearest train stations are London Victoria (10-minute walk) and London Charing Cross (20-minute walk)
- By bus: Multiple buses stop on Buckingham Palace Road, while the Victoria Coach Station is a 10-minute walk away
- By car: While it is possible to travel to Buckingham Palace by car, there is no on-site parking. There are, however, private parking lots in the area.
Accessibility
Buckingham Palace is accessible to wheelchair, mobility scooter and rollator users. As a historic building, however, floors and surfaces may be uneven. Buckingham Palace also provides a portable hearing loop system and tours in BSL for deaf or hard of hearing visitors, as well as descriptive audio guides for blind or partially-sighted visitors.
Top tips
- Book your tickets online in advance, especially during peak tourist season. Buckingham Palace is open for a limited number of weeks every year and tickets sell out.
- If you want to see the Changing of the Guard, check the schedule as it doesn’t happen every day. Arrive at least 30-45 minutes early to get a good spot, as it can get very crowded.
- Be prepared for airport-style security checks before entering. Avoid bringing large bags to speed up the process.
- Photography is not allowed inside the State Rooms but is permitted in the palace gardens.
