Save money, avoid the queues and get reserved or priority access to some of Florence’s greatest attractions with a Florence Pass. The pass allows you to book the busiest attractions in advance and helps you plan your sightseeing with an amazing real-time smart app that allows for a self-guided tour of the city.

In addition to the discounted rates on entrance fees, most passes also include attractive offers to other activities and attractions in the city.

Below is everything you need to know about the Florence Pass, one of the best investments for sightseeing in Florence.

What is the Florence Pass and what does it cover?

The Florence Pass is a ticket package that provides you with excellent value for money with reserved or priority access to four of Florence’s top attractions. While some attractions require pre-booking, others can be visited over a 3-day period.

The Brunelleschi Dome and Florence Cathedral: Reserved Entrance

You need to enter the Brunelleschi Dome at the time selected when you made your Florence Pass booking, but thereafter, you have 3 days to complete your visits to the Giotto Bell-Tower, Opera del Duomo, the Duomo Cathedral itself and Santa Reparata Museum.

You are able to gain priority access with a pre-booking of your time slot to visit the Uffizi Gallery as well as the Accademia Gallery.

Visitors under the age of 17 years can purchase a ticket onsite for €4 if there is availability. Disabled visitors and their carer can gain free access with a valid certificate of disability.

Florence City Tour Guide

In addition to the four famous attractions included in the pass, you also receive access to a digital city tour which provides you with a comprehensive tour in your choice of 5 languages, using smart sightseeing software to coordinate the narration with your location.

The guide includes details of more than 70 points of interest as well as offline, interactive maps and navigation.

Other Pass options

If you are a gallery and museum aficionado, you can also book a Firenze Card – an Official Museum City Pass, giving you access to 60 of Florence’s museums for a period of 72 hours. You can also pre book your time slot to visit the busiest museums and galleries to ensure your access.

How does the Florence Pass work? How do I use it?

There are a few Pass packages available for purchase in Florence, but the following are the most popular and offer the best value if fully utilized:

Florence Pass

The Florence Pass is a digital pass that provides you entry to the attractions described. To begin the process, you will need to select your dates of travel and how many tickets you will need.

You are able to pay using a secure booking and payment process. Once payment is made, you will receive an email detailing how to make use of the pass. You will also receive a personal discount code that gives you a further discount if you visit another attraction nearby.

The Florence Pass also comes with a downloadable audio guide that provides interesting real-time commentary as you explore Florence. All other tickets purchased for Florence attractions and activities via the same booking method will also be discounted by 10% for the duration of your time in the city.

Firenzecard

You can buy a Firenzecard online or at one of the authorized sales locations in the city. If you book online in advance, you can either keep the digital card, or print the proof of purchase to redeem it for a physical card on arrival.

The card activates upon its first use and you have the option of upgrading to a Firenzecard+ which includes unlimited use of public transport and other special offers.

You may only enter each participating museum once per card.

How much does a Florence Pass cost?

The full Florence Pass costs €105 per person. Those under the age of 17 years can purchase discounted tickets for some of the attractions on the day, but this is subject to availability.

People with disabilities can enter the accessible attractions for free together with one carer upon presentation of a certificate confirming their disability.

If you would only like to access the Giotto Bell-Tower, Opera del Duomo, Cathedral and Santa Reparata Museum, you can opt for a 3-day pass at a cost of roughly €30 per person.

Firenzecard

In addition to the Florence Pass, you can also select a Firenze Card. This Official Museum City Pass is valid for 72 hours and affords you access to all 60 of Florence’s museums at a cost of around €85 per adult, with children under the age of 18 years permitted to accompany you at no cost.

If you run out of time, you can add an additional 48 hours to your pass for less than €30 each at any point within a year from when you first bought the card.

Is the Florence Pass really worth it?

If you enjoy independent sightseeing and are planning on visiting all the attractions included in the Pass, then the Florence Pass is convenient and less expensive than booking the entrances to each location separately.

An added bonus is the priority entrance to the galleries included which saves time and avoids the need to queue. If you would like your children under the age of 17 years to receive a discounted entry, then you may still need to queue to purchase tickets for them.

In addition to the entry to the various attractions, the smart audio tour of Florence is an added bonus and ensures that you can confidently see the sights of the city while still learning the kinds of facts you would normally hear from a guide. You can tour at your own pace, and set your own itinerary using the downloadable interactive maps.

The Firenzecard is definitely worthwhile if you are planning a whirlwind tour of multiple museums and would prefer not to worry about paying for entry at each location. The discount for making the booking becomes more worthwhile the more attractions you visit, so be sure this package makes sense if you only want to visit a few museums or galleries.
