The Lisbon Card is your passport to adventure, taking you on a journey to all the city’s greatest attractions. This cost-effect card goes beyond the limitations of a regular sightseeing bundle and includes various discounts and transportation benefits too.

Whether you are a culture vulture, a history buff or just want to soak in as much of the city as possible, a Lisbon card is the ultimate traveler’s friend.

Here is a look at everything you need to know about the Lisbon Card and how you can get this pass to all the best sightseeing tours in Lisbon.

What is the Lisbon Card and what does it include?

The Lisbon Pass is a multi-faceted card that allows visitors to gain access to dozens of the city’s top attractions. They will enjoy free or heavily discounted entry to landmarks like the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery and the Santa Justa Elevator. You will have free access to 26 museums and UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Furthermore, you will enjoy free and unlimited travel by bus, metro, train, lift and tram, making those infamous Lisbon hills much easier to conquer. You can also count on free metro rail transport to and from the airport.

You will also receive a free Lisbon guidebook to help you uncover the city’s hidden secrets. Once you have seen and done it all in Lisbon, you can also hop on the train and take a free day trip to Sintra and Cascais for even more value.

How does the Lisbon Card work?

Your Lisbon Card is valid for a full calendar year after you have purchased it and it is only activated once you visit the first attraction. You can buy a card that covers 24 hours, 48 hours or 72 hours depending on how much time you have in the city and how much you want to see and do.

Once you buy your Lisbon sightseeing pass, you will receive a voucher via email that you will exchange for a physical card once you get to the city. The exchange offices are at Lisbon Airport, Lisboa Welcome Center and Foz Palace.

How much does a Lisbon Card cost?

There are 3 different Lisbon Card options to choose from:

  • 24 Hours: €21
  • 48 Hours: €35
  • 72 Hours: €44

Children aged 4-15 years can enjoy discounted Lisbon Card rates:

  • 24 Hours: €13.50
  • 48 Hours: €19.50
  • 72 Hours: €23

Is a Lisbon Card worth getting?

If you plan on doing a few intensive days of sightseeing, a Lisbon Card is more than worth it. Lisbon’s top attractions are the Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery and Pilar 7 which all cost €6, €10 and €5 respectively.

If you only visit those 3 attractions the card has already paid for itself.

Not to mention the savings on public transport. Bus, tram and metro tickets cost €1.50, which quickly adds up if you want to avoid walking up the city’s steep hills.

We always recommend a sightseeing pass if you are an avid adventurer who wants to skip the line and save some money.
