Our review

If you don’t have the luxury of a lot of time in either Florence or to explore the rest of Tuscany, this tour leaves you feeling like you’ve got your fix of both destinations.

Not veering too far out of the city, you still get a pukka feel for the countryside. The stops along the way are a wonderful mix of famous landmarks and intriguing, lesser-known feats.

2 – Tuscany Vespa Wine Tour

Tuscany Vespa Wine Tour

Our review

When we were in San Gimignano, we popped into a deli and a local behind the counter told us that it’s against the law to even change one brick in this town! With that in mind, authenticity is an understatement, and it really feels as if you’ve just traveled back in time!

Oh, and the wait in line for Italy’s gelato champions is totally worth it!

3 – Tuscany Sunset Vespa Tour

Tuscany Sunset Vespa Tour

Rating: ⭐️ 5/5 (34 reviews)

“We loved the scenic Vespa ride, and learning about the region. The wine and olive oil tasting at a local vineyard/olive grove after the Vespa ride was incredible. We met so many wonderful people on this tour and would highly reccomend!!” haley,Viator

Calling all of the romantics and dreamers: If you’ve already explored Florence with a tour group or journeyed around Toscana during the day, Tuscany Vespa Tours presents something a little different for you to enjoy!

As sunset hour approaches and the sky starts to transform into red, pink and orange shades, hop on the back of a Vespa, or take control of the wheel yourself and go galavanting around Chianti’s bucolic surroundings.

The driving part starts in the countryside from Castello di Poppiano (you’re first transported here by vehicle).

Pull over for Chianti vino tastings at a local farmhouse before returning to the Tuscan capital before nightfall.

Out of the 4.5 hours, you spend about 1.5 to 2 hours driving.

4 – Self-drive Tour of Florence Hills with local products Tasting

Electric Vespa self-drive Tour of Florence Hills with local products Tasting

Rating: ⭐️ 4.5/5 (17 reviews)

“Great quality time spent with my two sons, such a special and unique way to experience all that Florence has to offer. Nice way to end inside the Roman gate with charcuterie and wine at B Station.” ken,Viator

Just because CAF Tour and Travel’s E-Vespa expedition is self-guided doesn’t mean you’re missing out on dedicated routes or pit stops typically included in an organized tour.

With a GPS App leading the way from Florence and out of the main touristy parts, get a real feel of the Tuscan hills without driving hours outside the city.

Follow the selected route toward Etruscan-rooted Fiesole (the closest town to Florence). It takes about 20 minutes to get here from the historic center, winding through hyper-localized neighborhood roads and past gorgeous villas!

Making your way back to Firenze, break at Piazzale Michelangelo for photographs, pop into the Basilica San Miniato al Monte. Head back into the city via Viale dei Colli, through the Oltrarno district, for final food and vino tastings.

Our review

This tour is all about the viewpoints! Fiesole sits in the hills and oversees the whole city; the Michelangelo Plaza boasts panoramas across Florence, and the drive along the scenic boulevard descends tree-lined pathways.

Fiesole’s town is pretty minute but feels completely different from Florence. Pop by the Roman Theatre and also check out the remains of its ancient walls.

5 – All-inclusive tour in Chianti

All-inclusive Tuscany Vespa tour in Chianti from Florence

Rating: ⭐️ 4.5/5 (48 reviews)

“What an incredible day! Book this tour! We got to see the beautiful Tuscan countryside, and we stopped at a winery for a “light” (i.e. incredibly filling) lunch and tasted 10 wines! Vincenzo was an amazing guide. He was friendly and knowledgeable and great to be around.” stefanie,Viator

Cruise around Chianti on a classic Piaggio Vespa during Italy on a Budget tours’ all-inclusive day adventure!

This expedition begins from San Gimignano — you’re first transported from Florence to here in a comfortable private vehicle.

Now you’re behind the wheel of your Vespa 50cc, the journey starts from outside the heavens-high medieval ramparts, and it’s off to your first stop among the verdant hills.

Entering the famous wine region, drive past plenty of centuries-old villas, vineyards and flower fields, wineries, eateries and factory farm stores advertising balsamics and olive oils.

Detouring off Chianti Road, enjoy a traditional Tuscan lunch at a local winery! Bellies full, return to your base, and then you’re driven back to Florence.

Our review

The fastest way to reach San Gimignano is traveling on the highway, but driving a motorbike on this road is not for novice riders! You can detour through the countryside, but this would take a couple of hours!

Luckily, with this option, you’re picked up in Florence and dropped right by San Gimignano, saving you time and effort!

6 – Private Tuscany Vespa Tour

Vespas, a Chianti winery and a classic Italian lunchtime feast, Tuscany Cycle’s privatized scooter excursion epitomizes (and combines) the best of Tuscany!

After you’re all geared up and ready to go, first undergo a quick practice session to get you comfortable on the automated bike.

Then, the open-air travel commences.

With a local guide in charge, make your way out of the city center and into the Chianti countryside, breaking at a regional winery for lunch and wine tastings in the cellar.

(The menu usually comprises prosciutto, cheese, pasta and crostata, a type of Tuscan cake.)

Limited to small group sizes, this is one of the top Florence private tours for amateur drivers.

Our review

Many of the scooter tours require previous driving experience on a bike/scooter, but this is one of the few that doesn’t.

Keeping close to Firenze, you won’t travel on any major busy roads either, so it’s ideal for first-time riders!

Plus, you’re riding an automatic scooter, so no need to worry about shifting down or up gears!

7 – Small-Group Tuscany By Vespa

Small-Group Tuscany By Vespa

Rating: ⭐️ 4.5/5 (872 reviews)

“This was a great experience. My partner and I rode together which was fun because then we were having the space vespa experience. The guides were thorough with their safety checks which made me feel safer and they offered interesting tidbits on our way to the vespa site.” kelsey,Viator

Visiting two wineries and a castle (!!!) and stopping over for Chianti wine tastings and olive oil samplings, what more could you ask for in a day trip?

But it gets better; Florencetown/Towns of Italy gives you the option of either riding a classic Piaggio Vespa or the electric Vespa option (if you’d feel more at ease driving this model).

Disembarking from Florence in a private minivan, you’re transferred into the countryside, where the excursion occurs.

After a quick safety briefing and instructions on the Vespa specifics, cruise to your first vineyard, the historical Fattoria di Bagnolo. Lap up the tour of the winery and its cellars before moving on to the next.

Enjoy a Tuscan lunch in a grand villa near Greve before the adventure time is up!

Our review

At least with this tour, you have the option of choosing an electric Vespa if that puts you more at ease.

Having said that, we recommend trying out the archetypal version. It’s lighter in weight and smaller in size, making it slightly easier to maneuver.

Newbie riders: this is one of the best Vespa tours in Florence.
