Located southeast of vibrant Bali, Nusa Penida is part of an archipelago of 3 islands, together with Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan.

The stunning island of Nusa Penida, surrounded by stark blue water, has a plethora of must-see, jaw-dropping sites; its towering rockface, cascading with flora, grants visitors with a 360, scenic view of the rolling sea below. To make matters better (and more Instagrammable), a pool of seawater lies between soaring limestone. Nusa Penida consists of more rugged terrain, and despite what most may think, the island takes a while to get around—it can take up to two hours to drive from the northwest point of the island to a tourist favourite: Broken Beach.

Nusa Penida is a must-do day trip due to its array of gorgeous sites and holiday-friendly activities!

Travel tips

  • When you travel to the untouched, gorgeous island, it’s important to know that the roads aren’t developed. Therefore, you will likely experience rocky terrain when you travel from one destination to another.
  • There are no ATMs on the island, so bring some cash for food and refreshments! The island, although relatively undeveloped, does have a few great restaurant options for all tastes and desires.
  • You may want to bring runners to help ease the treacherous trek from Kelingking viewpoint down to Kelingking Beach. It may tough to attempt this hike in flip-flops! Bring your sunscreen, bathing suit, towel, and snacks, especially if you don’t plan on sitting down for food at a restaurant.
  • Due to the size of the island, you may want to do one day trip that takes you to the west side — Crystal Bay, Broken Beach, Angel’s Billabong — and another that takes you to the east—Teletubbies Hill, Nusa Penida Tree House, Peguyangan Waterfall. There’s so much to see!
