Nearly 50 million visitors make the journey to the City of Angels every year, camera in one hand, bucket list in the other. Yet one underrated, award-winning attraction tends to be forgotten - only to the detriment of anybody who chooses to overlook it: Warner Bros. Studio.

Sure, Disneyland offers one-of-a-kind interactions with our beloved cartoon characters, and Universal Studios features an array of world-class rides, but if you're after legitimate insight into the ins and outs of the highest-quality TV and film content, then look no further than Warner Bros. Studio Hollywood - an iconic Tinseltown establishment that has been entertaining audiences for over 95 years.

Throughout this piece, we'll outline everything you need to know about Warner Bros. Studio and answer all the common questions, allowing you to flawlessly (and cheaply) plan your upcoming visit to this unbeatable attraction. Those questions include:

Which types of tours are available?

There’s no one-size-fits-all option at Warner Bros. You have the opportunity to join one of three types of tour:

“Studio Tour”

As the most common (and equal-cheapest) option, the Studio Tour offers a spectacular, well-rounded insight into the world of entertainment. You’ll get a glimpse into the beloved Central Perk Café from Friends, dive into the DC Universe, and experience the film and TV industry in a behind-the-scenes manner impossible to achieve anywhere else.

To cap off those wondrous sights, this tour also provides the opportunity to venture into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts. If you live and breathe all things witchcraft and wizardry, then this is the budget-friendly tour for you.

The Studio Tour is available in English, Spanish, French, and Mandarin and lasts for approximately three hours.

“Classics Tour”

Perhaps you’re not enthralled by Harry Potter and fantasy; perhaps you prefer a more historical, informative experience – and that’s fine too! If you’re a history buff who spent years obsessing over the evolution of cinema, then step right up to the “Classics Tour”.

Spanning all the way from the dawn of commercial cinema through to the Hollywood “Golden Age” and up to the 1970s, the guided Classics Tour offers a far more in-depth historical focus, jam-packed with little-known Hollywood stories. This tour also includes visits to backlots and sound stages, the Central Perk Café, “Stage 48”, and the Warner Bros. Studio Store.

The Classics Tour is available in English and lasts for approximately three hours.

“Deluxe Tour”

Can’t decide between the enticing fantasy focus of the Studio Tour and the fascinating historical approach of the Classics? Fret not, because Warner Bros. has a best-of-both-worlds option. The Deluxe tour not only covers everything included in both the Studio Tour and the Classics Tour (Friends, Harry Potter, DC, Batmobile Collection, the Warner Bros. Studio Store, and more), but also throws in a few fancy extras on top:

Visitors on the Deluxe Tour are provided the chance to see the intricate Warner Bros. costume and prop departments; and receive complimentary food, drinks, and a souvenir guidebook - not to mention a fine-dining lunch experience.

The Deluxe Tour is available in English and lasts for approximately six hours because it encompasses both aforementioned tour options (and then some).

What are the entry costs for Warner Bros. Studio Hollywood?

Now that you’ve got a handle on the different options available, let’s talk price. Just because some other famous California tourist hotspots will cost you a pretty penny, a day at Warner Bros., contrary to popular belief, doesn't have to break the bank.

Below you’ll find the prices according to the Warner Bros. Studio website. Keep in mind, however, that there are plenty of cheaper options available through our partners, which we’ll touch on in the following section.

“Studio Tour”

Adults (age 13+) - $69
Child (age 8-12) - $59
Residents of Southern California – $57

Children under 8 years of age are not permitted on the tour, and if you’re a SoCal resident, ensure you bring a valid photo ID showing your address.

“Classics Tour”

Adults (age 13+) - $69
Child (age 8-12) - $59

“Deluxe Tour”

General admission - $295

A Universal Studios Hollywood ticket will set you back close to $150, and a Disneyland park-hopper drifts further into wallet-draining territory. Considering the lofty prices of its competitors, Warner Bros. has “bargain” written all over it.

Where can I find the cheapest Warner Bros Studio tickets?

If you don’t know where to look, buying Warner Bros. Studio tickets at the door or on the company website can rack up quite a hefty bill, especially when accounting for everyone in the family. Luckily, there are exclusive deals available online which offer much better prices and can save you upwards of 30%, or hundreds of dollars (depending on the size of the party). Let’s take a look at how to find those great deals!

A handful of travel agents have partnerships lined up, while some websites push limited-time promotional deals and others offer a “best price guarantee”. While all of these options have merit, and the alleged best price may well be the cheapest available, how can we know for sure? How can we compare without wasting hours scouring through the internet?

Easy. TourScanner. We compare all the deals available online for thousands of amazing attractions around the world, including, of course, Warner Bros. Studio!

Take a look. There are deals that include transportation, packages that combine tours of movie stars’ homes, and heaps more.

When is the best time of year to visit? How can I avoid the crowds?

All year round! Regardless of the time of year, whether it’s the peak travel season or the middle of a tourist lull, Warner Bros. Studio tours implement a maximum capacity. So long as you book online, you’ll never have to wait in line to buy tickets or find yourself squished in between selfie stick-wielding tourists.

Los Angeles in general, however, tends to be far busier during the summer vacation months – between June and August - as well as Spring Break. During these periods, the tour’s spots usually fill up very quickly, so make sure to book well in advance – we wouldn’t want you to miss out!

What are the Warner Bros opening hours?

Opening times vary throughout the year. In most instances, the first tour begins at 9 am, and the final tour begins at 6.30 pm.

Note: Because booking availability has changed in 2020 due to the coronavirus, it’s important to double-check availability before planning a trip around a visit to this fantastic attraction.

How can I get there from Hollywood?

If you’re staying in the main Hollywood area, then it’ll be a quick and easy trip to Warner Bros. Studio in the neighboring suburb of Burbank.

By car (whether a rental car, taxi, or rideshare), the most direct route shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes – it’s less than five miles from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A $15 parking applies, so it might prove cheaper to hop in an Uber or Lyft. Either way, if you’ve got a few minutes to spare, opt for the scenic route via the hills and greenery of Griffith Park.

The 222 also bus goes from the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street and drops you off just a four-minute walk from the main entrance.

How can I get there from Downtown Los Angeles?

From Downtown LA, the trip will be a little further. Expect a drive of around 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, there is no direct public transportation route from Downtown – it’s an hour journey that requires a route change. Therefore, if you don’t have your own car, your best bet is a rideshare or a tour package that includes hotel pick-up.

What are the other best attractions in Los Angeles?

We’ve already mentioned Disneyland (although technically not in Los Angeles, rather Anaheim), and Universal Studios - one of the best theme parks in LA, but those are just the tip of the iceberg. Six Flags is well-known for its hair-raising roller coasters, Santa Monica provides a picture-perfect beachside backdrop, and then there’s the iconic Hollywood Sign – best viewed from above, by helicopter.

Once you’ve ticked Warner Bros. Studio off the list, assuming you have a few more days up your sleeve, countless day-trip opportunities await. For beaches, head to Santa Barbara; for a taste of tantalizing Mexican food, San Diego is just a couple hours’ drive; and for a slice of nature, it’s hard to go past Joshua Tree National Park.

Travel Tips

Los Angeles is a tourism epicenter. There’s so much to see and do, but there are also some important things that we need to keep in mind:

  • This city is renowned for its heavy traffic, so if you’re driving around, ensure extra time for the unavoidable bumper-to-bumper congestion. The Warner Bros. tour will start whether you’ve arrived or not, so don’t be late!
  • Make sure to bring a camera! While photography may not be permitted in all sections of the tour, this is Hollywood, and as you wander through real movie sets, there’s a legitimate chance you could spot a celebrity.
  • Even though you may be able to score a last-minute ticket at the door, don't bank on that chance. Book well in advance (especially during peak season) to avoid missing out on this amazing opportunity.

So, what are you waiting for? Book your trip to Warner Bros. Studio Hollywood today and enjoy all the attractions Los Angeles has to offer!
