Small group canyoning tour in Los Arcos

Most canyoning in Tenerife takes place in Los Arcos. Also known as the Valley of the Arches, this remote ravine is one of the most beautiful on the island. It’s up in the north of Tenerife, not far from Teide National Park and just south of La Orotava.

Your adventure starts at the entrance to the canyon, so you’ll need to make your own way there. Taxis or a rental car are your best options. This is where you’ll meet your guide and get kitted up with all the necessary canyoning safety gear.

Next, you’ll hike through the forest to the canyon – this usually takes around 45 minutes on a gentle trail. Then it’s time for your first rappel into the gorge itself. The first drop is about 22 meters, and your instructor will show you exactly what to do so you’ll always be in safe hands.

As you descend, you’ll come face to face with the volcanic rock formations that make this region so famous. Take a moment to appreciate your surroundings, with moss-clad cliffs and endemic flora all around.

There are eight rappel sections in total, and by the time you finish, you’ll feel like a pro! Each drop offers a different experience, and there’s always something new to discover as you head deeper into the ravine. Your Tenerife canyoning excursion finishes with a short hike back to the starting point.
