What types of Lion Habitat Ranch tours are there?

Behind the scenes tours

The “Behind the Scenes” Lion Habitat Ranch tours are available for an additional fee and need to be booked in advance. They are a great option for animal lovers who want a unique insight into the workings of the ranch and fancy meeting the animals up close.

You’ll be able to watch the keepers caring for the wild residents and find out more about the conservation of these iconic creatures.

Should you book Lion Habitat Ranch tickets in advance?

It’s always a good idea to reserve your Lion Habitat Ranch tickets ahead of your visit. As you can imagine, seeing the magnificent residents up close is hugely popular, so tickets can sell out, especially in peak season. By booking in advance, you can secure your preferred timeslot on the day of your choice.

What will you see inside the Lion Habitat Ranch?

The residents

The stars of the show are of course the 30 lions. Until 2012 they were on display at the MGM Grand Hotel, and now they’re enjoying a well-deserved retirement. The standard Lion Habitat Ranch rate includes a visit to see these formidable kings and queens of the jungle.

You can also admire the exotic birds and meet Ozzie, the world’s only brush painting giraffe. If you’re lucky you might see him in action!

There are some experiences that are not included in your Lion Habitat Ranch tickets:

Animal feeding

Hand feeding the animals offers a really intimate encounter with these African icons. You can give both the lions and the giraffe their lunch if you’re feeling brave!

Behind the scenes tours

The ultimate ranch experiences are the “Behind the Scenes” Lion Habitat Ranch tours, which take you into the restricted areas. You’ll see the keepers cleaning and bathing the animals, and there will be a chance to feed the giraffe too.

Feast with the beasts

If you have a large group, this is your opportunity to enjoy lunch in the company of the lions. Don’t worry, they’ll be on the other side of the glass walls, but that won’t stop them eyeing up your meal!

Where is the Lion Habitat Ranch?

The Lion Habitat Ranch is just a few minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, which makes it a great half-day trip from the city. To get there, head south on the I-15 before taking exit 27 onto the St Rose Parkway. There is a parking lot on site with plenty of spaces.

What time of day should you go to the Lion Habitat Ranch?

If you want to avoid the crowds, the ideal time for a Lion Habitat Ranch visit is during the early morning. Come on a weekday rather than a weekend for a quieter experience.

The sanctuary is open Friday to Monday from 10 AM until 3 PM, with the last admissions at 2 PM.

Travel tips

  • Search online for the best Lion Habitat Ranch tickets price and book your visit well in advance.
  • As this is an outdoor experience, the site is sometimes closed in bad weather so do check ahead if it looks like rain.
  • The ranch shuts at 3 PM so don’t turn up later in the afternoon expecting to get in.
  • Wear comfortable footwear for walking around the park trails and take sunscreen during summer as there is little shade.
  • Don’t forget to charge your camera batteries so you can snap those lions at all their best angles.
