The Alcazar of Cordoba has been recognized as a Cultural Interest Heritage site since 1931. It is part of the Historic Center of Cordoba that is declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Alcazar of Cordoba is a perfect illustration of the development of Cordoban architecture through the ages. It used to be the residence of Roman governors, Moorish caliphs, and later became the home of the Spanish kings. Its history is nearly unrivaled in Spain and was the place where monarchs held court for more than 150 years.

Book your tickets in advance. Alcazar tickets that are purchased early can save you time and hassle. Avoid waiting at the ticket office the day you are visiting the monument.
Get to the Alcazar early in the day. You may beat some of the crowds and ensure there is plenty of time to witness the important exhibit. Furthermore, gates close to the Alcazar of Cordoba 30 minutes before the monument closes for the day.
