Flyboarding in Bali is an exhilarating experience as jets of water propel you into the air over the calm waters of the bay. If you are looking for a day of fun, adrenaline and adventure, a visit to Tanjung Benoa should be on your vacation check-list.

Here's all you need to know about flyboard, one of the most exciting outdoor activities in Bali.

What are the best Flyboard tours in Bali?

Flyboarding in Bali takes place at Tanjung Benoa Beach, just north of Nusa Dua.

Flyboarding at Tanjung Benoa

As a standalone activity, when you book for flyboarding in Bali, you will have the option for collection from your hotel in the area. If you are staying a significant distance away, there may be a surcharge for the pickup or you may have to make your own transport arrangements.

On arrival, you will meet your instructor who will make sure that you are fitted with a life-vest and helmet before providing you with a safety briefing and some tips on steering, landing and elevating the flyboard.

Your instructor will be operating the jet ski used to propel the flyboard and will be close-by for your whole experience, making sure that you are safe while also having as much fun as possible.

If you have done the activity before or are confident in the basic manoeuvres, you will have time to experiment with more daring flips and turns.

After your activity ends, you will either return immediately to your hotel, or have the chance to explore Tanjung Benoa Beach and its other activities on offer.

How much does Flyboarding in Bali cost?

Flyboarding activities start at around US$50 per person. If transport to and from your hotel is also included, then expect to pay from US$60 per person.

Water sports packages that include round-trip transfers range from US$100 to US$170 per person, depending on which activities are included.

What is included?

Flyboarding in Bali takes place at Tanjung Benoa Beach and includes the following:

  • Return hotel transfers
  • Use of safety equipment
  • A short introductory training
  • 15-20 minutes of flyboarding with an instructor
  • Access to the beach club to shower and change after your activities

Where does it start?

Flyboarding activities in Bali take place at Tanjung Benoa Beach. From Kuta, a transfer will take around 1 hour each way.

How long does it last?

The flyboarding itself lasts for 15-20 minutes. Before you enter the water, you will have a safety briefing and training session and be issued with your safety equipment. From start to finish (excluding transfer time), your activity should last around an hour.

When is the best time for flyboarding in Bali?

Flyboarding is best in the morning when the beach and ocean are less crowded. Most water sport operators are open from 9 AM to 4 PM but you will need to book your activity before midday to secure your time if you want to participate in the activity in the afternoon.

Are there any combo tours available?

There are a number of water sports combo packages that include flyboarding. Here are some of the more popular activity combo tours.

Flyboard, Banana Boat and Donut Ride Bali water-sport experience

This half day fun package includes return hotel transfers from Kuta by small coach. Your morning will begin with an exhilarating flyboarding experience after which you can spend some more time racing through the water on a banana boat or a rolling donut. You will be able to freshen up at the beach club before your return transfer.

Bali active water sports package including flyboard, underwater scooter and jet ski

After collection from your hotel in an air-conditioned minivan, travel to Tanjung Benoa and start your day with a short boat transfer to the platform where you will collect your underwater scooters. After 25 minutes exploring the coral gardens, you will join your instructor for a 15-minute jet-ski ride.

Lastly, a 20-minute flyboarding experience will give you the chance to try your hand at gracefully flying above the waters. You will have a chance to freshen up before returning to your hotel.

Water sport package with private transfers, flyboarding and parasailing

This package offers great value for money and includes private transfers from local hotels. Once at Tanjung Benoa Beach you will divide your time between the soaring above the water on a tandem parasail or using hydro-propulsion to control your own flyboard. Access to changing facilities after your activities is provided.

Is it safe?

Like all water activities, there are some risks associated with flyboarding. These risks are mitigated by using the proper safety equipment and getting some instruction on how to use the equipment.

If you have any existing medical conditions like a heart or back problem, or if you are pregnant, then this activity is not recommended.

Are children allowed?

Most tours will accept children from the age of 12, although children over the age of 10 who properly fit into the safety equipment and have the strength and coordination to control the flyboard may be allowed to join. Waivers will need to be signed by a parent for anyone under the age of 18.

Is there a height or weight limit?

There is no height limit for a flyboarding activity, but your feet will need to snugly fit the boots that are available. Typically flyboards have an upper weight limit of 135 kilograms and most tour operators have a minimum weight requirement of 35-45 kilograms.

The minimum weight requirement is set because a degree of strength and confidence is needed to control the equipment safely.

The power of the jet-ski that provides the propulsion for the flyboard will determine your flight height and speed.

What happens in case of bad weather?

In the case of bad weather or unsafe water conditions, you should receive a full refund from the tour operator or have the opportunity to reschedule your booking. If this activity forms part of a longer itinerary, ask your tour operator about their cancellation policies.
