Spanning 119 acres of diverse (manmade and natural) habitats and home to over 1,900 animals of all shapes and sizes, the beloved Oklahoma City Zoo is a great way to explore some of the world’s most unique environments with the whole family!

Unlike many other zoos around the country, this coveted attraction allows brave visitors to get up close and personal with the local critters on behind-the-scenes tours — make sure the batteries are charged because some magnificent animals like sea lions, rhinos, and brown bears await!

If these animals are a little too intimidating for younger visitors, take a stroll over to one of the other interactive habitats like the Flamingo Mingle, the century-old Herpetarium Wetlands Walkway (where you’ll discover some diverse 65 reptiles and amphibians), or the Great EscApe (hah, get it?).

3 – Cruise along the river on a Bricktown Water Taxi

Known as the lively entertainment district, downtown Bricktown offers a host of the most popular attractions in the area — and the water taxi, which takes passengers on a 40-minute round trip tour along the Bricktown canal, is no exception.

While expert guides share insights into the history of the district, you’ll zoom past attractions like the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and under the Devon Bridge, gaining a new perspective of this revitalized former warehouse zone.

Typically, in peak season, the taxis depart every 15-20 minutes. However, do some digging and you’ll also be able to book private charters and cocktail cruises — either way, it promises to be an afternoon or evening well spent.

4 – Reminisce at the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum

One of the most painful days in Oklahoma history, the attack on April 19the, 1995 shook not only the state of Oklahoma but the entirety of the United States.
