Be sure to swing by Mercado Municipal de Loulé (Loulé Market) during your visit; this marvelous market sells everything from hand-made crafts to delicious pastries, all housed in and around a massive Moorish-inspired building that dates back to 1908.
As you roam through the space and check out various products, you’ll be sorely tempted to fill up your shopping bag!
After picking up some food or souvenirs, you can check out the city center, a cheerful space that includes plenty of seaside paths… and even its own castle!
15 – Check out the views from Elevador do Peneco
If you’d like a somewhat unorthodox view of the beach, check out this Modernist delight!
Jutting up from the shore, the Peneco Elevator serves as a unique, convenient form of transit between Praia de Peneco and the busy city streets up the hill.
The original purpose of the installation was as a community improvement project, designed to help those with limited mobility get to the sea more easily.
And while it still serves that function today, it also makes a great lookout point!
Not only is it eye-catching and convenient, but it offers some incredible scenery at the top, courtesy of the viewing platform.

16 – Roll out on a quad tour
Another great way to get off the beaten path during your visit, quad tours will have you feeling like an action hero, even as you play tourist!

In 1248, it was captured by the Portuguese, and spent the next six centuries as a military and cultural fixture.

Yes, if you head over to Sand City, you’ll get to see an uncanny recreation of His Holiness, plus 119 other unique pieces.
Formed by 60 artists from around the globe, this sand sculpture theme park is the largest gathering of such works in the world, and offers a pretty unique take on the concept of an outdoor art gallery.
After admiring the works, take some time to explore the site’s other unusual offerings, including a fish spa, where small aquatic critters nibble away at the dead skin on your feet – talk about an unforgettable spa experience!
This place is so much more than your usual seaside hangout!
20 – Take some surf lessons and master the waves
After watching so many waves, you may be tempted to catch a few.
Luckily, there’s no shortage of great surf lessons available!

Yes, believe it or not, there’s another awesome waterpark to enjoy in the area… lucky you!
Aqualand Algarve offers an impressive breadth and depth in its attractions, whether you’re a youngster romping under the giant splash bucket or a grownup flying down the latest waterslide.
Don’t miss a trip on the eye-catching King Cobra, a set of racing slides that shoot out of the mouth of a giant mosaic snake.
And if you prefer a slower paced outing, grab an inner tube and go for a leisurely float down the lazy river.

26 – Putter around town on the Vilamoura tourist train
As the name suggests, the Vilamoura tourist train helps visitors get around in style, checking out all of the best attractions along the way.
But that doesn’t begin to cover how cute it is!
Brightly colored and almost cartoonish, the vehicle beckons guests to join the fun and putter around, enjoying a little bit of everything as you go.
There’s even a hop-on, hop-off option for those that like to explore a little more!
And while you’re in the area, leave some time to stroll along the Vilamoura Marina, with its massive rows of boats and ample aquatic activities.

27 – Get up close with the critters at Krazy World
If you want to spend some time petting llamas, feeding birds, or checking out gigantic snakes, you’re in the right neck of the woods!
Don’t let the name fool you; the only thing “crazy” about Krazy World is the amount of fun you’ll have!
In the zoo section, you can get up close and personal FIX with anacondas, lemurs, wallabies, and emus, among a whole other assortment of creatures.
Then it’s off to the Petting Zoo area to meet some farm animals, before going back through the various zones to check out some of the awesome animal encounters, from lemur feedings to tortoise talks.

If you want something less wild than skydiving, and less mild than parasailing, you’re in luck: the region is also a wonderful place for paragliding!
No prior experience is necessary for this delightful adventure; simply show up at the appointed time, get a briefing on the basics, then get strapped into the tandem device with your instructor.

30 – Take a leisurely trip to Sagres
With its rich history and great seaside scenery, Sagres is a knockout destination!
