Where the lights never dim, the party never stops, and the possibilities are endless, Las Vegas is a cacophony of excitement — not just for booze hounds and partygoers, but for adventurous souls, fun-seeking families, and history buffs alike.
Sure, you can live the high-roller life, embracing all that the celebrity nightlife, world-class casinos, and extravagant resorts have to offer; but if you scratch beneath the surface, you’ll discover an array of cheap things to do in Las Vegas too — museums, national parks, historic attractions, and so much more.
With affordable accommodation options, budget-friendly restaurants, and a slew of free or low-cost attractions on and off the Strip (Fremont Street Experience, the Bellagio Fountains, and M&M’s World, to name a few) Sin City doesn’t have to drain the wallet – you simply need to know where to look.
Everything on this list costs less than US$50 – so, get ready to immerse yourself in the excitement and allure of Las Vegas, without breaking the bank.
1 – Meet your heroes at Madame Tussauds
The closest thing to meeting your favorite celebrities, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas is an interactive wax museum located right on the Las Vegas Strip. Step into the world of fame and glamour as you pose alongside over 100 lifelike wax figures of your favorite stars, from musicians and actors to sports icons and historical figures.
Plus, with interactive exhibits and photo opportunities, you can snap selfies with celebrities like Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and Lady Gaga, to name a few.
Athletes, pop stars, politicians, and superheroes aside, the museum also features a few surprises you won’t find anywhere else — take a seat at the bar from the Hangover, star in a music video alongside Drake, ride Miley’s famous wrecking ball or battle Loki alongside Captain Marvel and Spider-Man in the new Marvel Universe 4D show.
Hot tip: Combine Madame Tussauds like a Gondola Ride at the Venetian for the best bang for your buck.
2 – Soak up the view from the SkyPod Observation Deck
Rising 1,149 feet above the dazzling lights of the Las Vegas Strip, the SkyPod Observation Deck at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its surrounding landscapes.
From this vantage point, you can soak in iconic landmarks like the Bellagio Fountains, the High Roller, and the vibrant cityscape stretching as far as the eye can see – all with the contrasting colors of Red Rock Canyon and the dusty Mojave as the backdrop.
As the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States, the SkyPod provides an unparalleled perspective of Las Vegas – and with both indoor and outdoor viewing platforms, you can enjoy the vistas in any weather.
Located at the northern end of the Strip (somewhat isolated from most of the Strip hotels), it’s within easy reach of Downtown attractions like the Fremont Street Experience and the Arts District.
Plus, for all you adrenaline junkies, the STRAT also boasts thrilling open-air rides – but more on that in a moment…
3 – Tackle the STRAT’s thrill rides
Craving an adrenaline rush? Las Vegas is home to a variety of thrilling rides that will get your heart pounding. And while you’ll find high-octane rides all over town, a cluster of them is found right at the top of the STRAT.
Between the three main thrill rides — the Big Shot, X-Scream, and SkyJump — you’re guaranteed a hair-raising experience without breaking the bank.
First up, the Big Shot – in a matter of seconds, you’ll be shot up from the tower’s roof to its mast at 45 miles an hour, hitting a max height of over 1,080 feet in the air. Then there’s X-Scream – a rollercoaster that shoots you 27 feet off the edge of the tower, where you’ll hang 866 feet above the streets below.
The biggest thrill of them all (yet not the cheapest), is the SkyJump. Holding the Guinness World Record as the highest commercial decelerator descent on the planet, you’ll effectively bungee hump from 830 feet high, reaching controlled speeds of 40 miles an hour.
Keep in mind: There used to be a fourth ride, Insanity, however, it’s now closed as of mid-2023.
4 – Step back in time at the Mob Museum
Before Las Vegas became the Entertainment Capital of the World, it was a hotbed for organized crime and mobsters. The Mob Museum, tucked away in downtown Las Vegas not too far from the Fremont Street Experience, dives deep history of the city’s mafia roots and the ongoing battle against the mob.
Housed in a historic former federal courthouse, the museum is chock-full of immersive exhibits, authentic artifacts (like Al Capone’s revolver and the wall from the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre), and engaging multimedia presentations that bring the fascinating stories of mobsters and law enforcement to life.
While you can easily wander around at your own pace, the daily guided tours offer a chance to further unravel the rise and fall of iconic gangsters. Along the way, expect to learn plenty about the Prohibition era, the history of local law enforcement, and the inner workings of some of the most notorious crime families in history.
Throw in the fact that it has a Prohibition-era speakeasy on site (The Underground), and you’ve got yourself one of the more brilliant museums in Las Vegas.
5 – Wander around the lovely Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
Looking for a peaceful escape in the midst of the Las Vegas excitement? Hidden away inside the iconic Bellagio Hotel and Casino, this floral oasis is a serene respite from the bustling Strip just outside.
Covering an area of close to 14,000 square feet, this is your chance to step into a world of natural beauty and appreciate thousands of vibrant flowers, plants, and trees arranged in meticulous, thoughtful detail.
The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens‘s talented team of horticulturists creates breathtaking arrangements that celebrate the changing seasons — think spring blossoms, summer gardens, autumn harvest, and winter wonderlands — with special designs for major holidays like Chinese New Year and Christmas to boot.
Not only is it one of the cheap things to do in Vegas, it’s totally free. You can immerse yourself in the beauty of nature — and then check out the famous fountains (see #17) — without spending a dime.
6 – Check off the city highlights with a bus tour
The perfect way to get your bearings — or your drink on — is by hopping on a bus tour that skirts its way up and down the city’s streets. Ideal for sightseeing, you can sit back, relax, and let the knowledgeable guides take you on a journey through the iconic sights and attractions of this bustling desert oasis.
When it comes to the best Las Vegas bus tours, you’ve got a handful to choose from. For partygoers, you can let your hair down on one of the bar-crawling bus tours that hops from pool party to nightclub, with VIP access and a free drink or two usually included.
But it’s not all about late nights here; if you’re looking for something more educational, many tour companies take visitors around the Strip in open-top buses and provide fascinating insights into Vegas’ history, culture, and landmarks — the hop-on-hop-off option (with audio guide) is a great choice if you prefer to explore at your own pace.
Rounding out the options, you’ve also got a handful of themed bus tours at your disposal. The Pawn Stars VIP bus tour, the Hoover Dam bus tour, and the mob-themed bus tour are all justifiably popular.
7 – Find feathery friends at the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat
In a city of chaotic nightlife, sometimes you need a serene escape — enter, Flamingo Wildlife Habitat.
Nestled amidst the excitement of the Las Vegas Strip at the eponymous hotel and casino, the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat offers a peaceful oasis where you can reconnect with nature and encounter a variety of fascinating creatures — Chilean flamingos as pink as pink can be, plus exotic birds, koi fish, and turtles, all within a lovely and tranquil setting.
Spread across 15 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, the habitat provides informative signage and educational displays that shed light on the behaviors of the resident wildlife, and the conservation efforts put in place to help protect them.
Free to enter, the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is open from 7am to 8pm, and offers a wonderful opportunity for adults and kids alike to experience nature up close.
Hot tip: don’t miss the twice-daily pelican feedings!
8 – Explore other worlds at the Illuminarium
A recent addition to the Sin City tourism scene, Illuminarium invites you to embark on a mesmerizing sensory journey into artistic, sci-fi and real-world-inspired landscapes.
Located at AREA15 (a futuristic entertainment complex just minutes from the Strip), this immersive experience combines state-of-the-art technology, stunning visuals, and captivating storytelling to transport you to areas near and far.
The unique appeal of Illumination lies in its ability to transport you to extraordinary places without leaving the comfort of the venue — come face to face with elephants on the African safari experience, walk on the surface of the moon, head to the Tokyo night marks, or put yourself in the middle of the French countryside… or simply wander around and enjoy the beats of the live DJ.
All the while, the massive projection screens, 360-degree sound system, and dynamic lighting arrangements create a fully immersive environment that brings these locations to life.
9 – Check out the Ethel M Chocolates Factory & Cactus Garden
It’s not often you can attract sweet-toothed travelers and nature lovers at the same time, but that’s exactly the name of the game at the Ethel M Chocolates Factory & Cactus Garden in nearby Henderson.
First thing first: a treat. Step into the factory and indulge your senses in the delectable world of chocolate. Here, you can witness the chocolate-making process and scoff down some of their signature creations, from rich truffles to creamy caramels — and, since the venue is named after Ethel Mars (yes, that Mars), you know it’s gonna be good.
After satisfying your sweet tooth, take a leisurely stroll through the adjacent Cactus Garden. With over 300 species of cacti and succulents, this botanical oasis creates a tranquil escape from the bustling city.
The garden is free to enter and is open year-round, but comes alive around Valentine’s Day, Halloween and Christmas with thousands of LED lights!
10 – Ride the LINQ High Roller
Towering above the LINQ Promenade pedestrian street, just out the back from the Strip, the LINQ High Roller stands as an iconic landmark and one of the best tourist attractions in Las Vegas.
As you step into the spacious observation capsule, prepare for a breathtaking 30-minute ride that offers unparalleled views of the dazzling Las Vegas skyline from 550 feet high.
Most travelers opt for the simple ride. But if you’re feeling a little fancy (or romantic, or you just want to party), you can sign up for the Happy Half Hour and sip on some cocktails as you ascend into the sky.
Since the pods can hold up to 40 people, the LINQ High Roller is also perfect for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and bachelor/bachelorette parties.
Money-saving tip: Tickets are cheaper during daytime hours (before 7pm). Arguably, the views are much better by day as well!
11 – Stuff your face at M&M’s World! (no judgement)
Overflowing with color and chocolatey goodness, M&M’s World is a paradise for candy enthusiasts and fans of the beloved M&M’s brand. You can even personalize your own M&M’s candies with your own messages and designs – did someone say perfect souvenir?
Before you go, don’t forget to stop into the free 3D movie theater where you can enjoy M&M’s-themed short films.
Entry is free but be warned — it’s tough to leave without spending a few bucks!

When the sizzling Nevada sun calls for some refreshing fun, head to Cowabunga Vegas, where water-filled adventures await.
Both located an easy drive from the Las Vegas main haunts, Cowabunga Vegas offers two fantastic water parks: Cowabunga Bay Waterpark and Cowabunga Canyon Waterpark.
The former features more than 20 attractions, including wave pools, lazy rivers, and the world’s largest man-made wave (the Wild Surf), while the latter boasts thrilling water slides and splash areas suitable for the whole family.

14 – Dial up the romance at the Eiffel Tower Experience
A slice of Europe right in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, the Eiffel Tower Experience offers a romantic and enchanting journey to the top of a half-scale replica of the iconic Parisian landmark (standing at about 460 feet (140 meters) tall).
As you ascend the tower, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the glittering city lights and famous Las Vegas landmarks.
But this isn’t just an observation deck; The Eiffel Tower Experience also invites foodies to dine at its revered on-site eaterie, the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, where the mouthwatering food is overshadowed only by the stunning city panoramas.
Hot tip: one of the best things to do in Las Vegas at night is to head here just before sunset – then simply wait as the Strip comes alive with twinkling lights.

Feeling romantic? If you’re searching for things to do in Las Vegas for couples, then one of the regular candlelight concerts should be high on the hist.
The ever-changing series of concerts span every genre imaginable; from classical Hans Zimmer performances to Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny tributes, to hip-hop renditions or Joe Hisaishi performances, they offer something for all music lovers.
The concerts take place at hidden venues all over town (like The Industrial or The Space) and typically run for about an hour – finishing just in time for a romantic dinner or a rooftop drink.
16 – Pay a visit to Lion Habitat Ranch
Animal lovers, this one’s for you. Sitting just a short drive away from Las Vegas, the Lion Habitat Ranch provides a unique opportunity to observe the kings of the jungle up close and personal.
This conservation facility aims to raise awareness about lion preservation and offers a safe environment for a variety of lions, including rare white lions.
Visitors can witness these magnificent felines as they roam and play, watch a live feeding session, or join in on one of the educational programs offered at the ranch.
But it’s not just about the big cats.
The habitat is also home to a handful of other exotic animals, namely giraffes and birds! Want some extra special? Why not sign up for the Feast with the Beasts lunch date, or take a behind-the-scenes tour? While these will cost you a little extra, you’ll find yourself inches away from some of the most majestic animals on the planet.

The fountain show runs every 30 minutes between 3pm and 7pm (from midday on the weekends), and every 15 minutes from 7pm till midnight.
18 – Join a Fremont Street walking tour
Before the Strip became the focal point for Las Vegas entertainment, Fremont Street was the place to be. Take a walking tour through the vibrant history of downtown Las Vegas and immerse yourself in the city’s rich past.
Whether it’s a paid or a free walking tour, you can expect to visit iconic venues like the Golden Nugget, Container Park, SlotZilla, the Neon Museum, and a whole host of places that have kept Las Vegas entertained throughout the years – passing by street performers and soaking up the old-timey atmosphere of Downtown Las Vegas along the way.
And, for when you get peckish, you’ll find no shortage of tasty eateries to keep you going — the aptly-named Heart Attack Grill is definitely worth a visit on novelty alone.
Fun fact: Fremont Street is home to the world’s largest video screen, the Viva Vision canopy, stretching 1,500 feet (457 meters) long. Every night, the screen lights up with a choreographed performance of 12.5 million LED lights synchronized to a host of pop songs!

Over the decades, glamorous hotels and casinos have come and gone in Las Vegas, but their neon signs live on at The Neon Museum – a graveyard-like shrine of all things Sin City.
If you wander a couple of minutes up from the Fremont Street Experience, you can walk through the Neon Boneyard, an outdoor exhibition space filled with over 200 retired neon signs from (former) big-ticket names like Stardust, Moulin Rouge, the Desert Inn, Sassy Sally’s, and the old Sahara – some of which date back to the 1930s!
Not only is it a heavy dose of nostalgia, but it’s also highly educational – The Neon Museum offers guided tours that touch on the art of neon signage, and also dive into the history of each of the signs that have once light up Las Vegas.

Located inside Luxor Hotel & Casino, this full-body exhibition is made up of over a dozen real human specimens that have been preserved through an innovative process (called plastinisation), with 260+ organs to boot.
You can learn about muscle systems, digestive systems, and the circulatory system — as well as a look at various diseases and conditions – the smoking lungs are certainly an eye-opener.
It’s an amazing and affordable experience, but it’s not for everyone – particularly those who are a little squeamish.
Bodies is found at the Luxor Hotel and Casino; for an equally immersive experience, you’ve also got the REAL BODIES exhibit at Bally’s, which delves further into the cultural and emotional influences of the human body.
32 – Spend an afternoon at the Golden Nugget Shark Tank
One of Vegas’ vintage casinos, the Golden Nugget, boasts an incredible feature that sets it apart from the rest— its 200,000-gallon Shark Tank!
And while it does have sharks and dozens of colorful underwater species swimming around, this isn’t an aquarium; this is a dramatic centerpiece that you can admire while you swim around in the pool, drink in hand, or literally slide through on the three-story transparent waterslide that cuts through the heart of the tank!
The entire “Tank” area also has a bunch of private cabanas — 17 to be exact! Plus, there are a couple of swim-up bars in the adults-only section. And of course, there are plenty of deck chairs where you can just chill and soak up the sun. So you might come for the sharks, but you’ll stay for the vibes.
Want something more educational? On Wednesdays and Sundays at 1:30pm, the hotel takes visitors on paid, marine biologist-led tours of the aquarium, where you can learn about the sharks, watch feedings, learn about how the team takes care of the animals, and more.

And if you’re traveling with kids in tow, the guided walking tours and hands-on learning experiences are sure to keep them engaged (especially when they stop at the prehistoric mammoth replica).
At less than $10 for Nevada locals and less than $20 for tourists (with all kids half price), it’s a cheap escape from the big smoke, and one of the best things to do off the Las Vegas Strip.

Of the more popular items, you’ve got Chucky from Child’s Play, Michael Myers, Pennywise the Clown, and the apes from Planet of the Apes, to name a few.
Before you leave, make sure to have a crack at escaping the Zombie Maze, and pop into the gift store for a stack of monster-themed merchandise that you won’t find anywhere else.
The museum is located over in Boulder City, not too far from the Hoover Dam. So why not make a day of it and squeeze them both in, one after the other?

Cars aside, you can also check out awesome displays of automotive trinkets, vintage signs, signed sports items, music memorabilia, and other cool stuff.
A visit to Nostalgia Street Rods is free and the friendly staff (read: the Goldstrom family) are more than happy to answer any questions you might have about their vehicles.
Hot tip: If you plan on visiting on the weekend, consider signing up for one of the VIP tours.
83 – Hop between stalls at Art Square (especially the First Friday events)
Combining three vintage buildings, an outdoor garden, several gallery spaces and a sculpture park, Art Square rolls back the curtain on the local culture – away from the hustle and bustle of the neon-lit Strip.
Held on the First Friday of every month, this free event is a high-energy coming-together of live music, food trucks, artist showcases and more (craft beer tasting, anyone?). It draws a far more local crowd compared to Fremont Street and the Strip – and best of all, it’s free!
84 – Book a party bus bar crawl!
Ready to let your hair down? One of the best Las Vegas bachelor party ideas (not to mention bachelorette and birthdays too), a pub crawl down the Las Vegas Strip is a great way to mix sightseeing with a wild night of debauchery.
While you can easily hop your way around town on your own during happy hour, the benefit of a pre-organized party bus is that you get (usually) free entry into multiple clubs and a free drink once you get there.
And with your own outgoing party guide to run icebreakers, take you to (at least 3) of the best watering holes in town, and keep the booze flowing, partying in Las Vegas has never been this easy. Plus, transport is taken care of – and you don’t have to worry about who’s driving.
Prefer to avoid the bus? You’ve got a handful of pub crawls to choose from too. Hitting up Speakeasies, jazz bars, Irish pubs, and more (often around Fremont Street), these thirsty excursions are almost guaranteed to have you stumbling home at the wee hours of the morning.
85 – Make your way to the Pinball Hall of Fame
Where the nostalgia is dialed up to eleven, this retro gaming paradise on the southern end of the Strip (Pinball Hall of Fame) is home to more than 200 classic pinball machines and video games from the 1960s through the 1990s and beyond.
From Donkey Kong to Dr. Who, Wheel of Fortune, Pacman, and everything in between, this 25,000-square-foot space is officially the world’s largest display of working pinball machines (and yes, you can play them all!).
It’s free to enter, and at just a few quarters per machine, it’s certainly one of the top cheap things to do in Las Vegas for gamers.
86 – Appreciate the power of the Luxor pyramid’s light beam
Since it opened back in the 90s, the Luxor has become one of the Strip’s most iconic landmarks. Not just for its striking pyramid shape, but for the powerful light beam that shoots from the pyramid’s apex, shooting 42.3 billion candela into the sky each and every night (that’s brighter than 42,000 lighthouses combined!).
Visible from 275 miles away (so, in reality, you couldn’t miss it if you friend), the light beam is officially the brightest light in the world.
If for nothing more than the novelty of it, it’s worth seeing the beam up close — and while you’re there, consider popping into the Titanic (#71) or the Bodies (#31) exhibitions.
87 – Grab a drink at a dueling piano bar
Whether you hit up Napoleon’s Lounge, the Bar at Times Square, or the Piano Bar at Harrah’s, dueling piano bars promise high energy, free-flowing drinks, and toe-tapping music to boot.
Regardless of the venue you end up in, the premise is the same: talented pianists battle it out on their pianos, taking song requests from the audience and jamming till their fingers fall off.
If you’re still searching, Eastside Lounge At Wynn is swankier than most, designed with luxury in mind, while the Big Bang Dueling Piano Bar is on the opposite end of the spectrum – casual, comfortable, and club-like!
88 – Have your mind blown by The Mentalist
Renowned for his hypnotic and mind-bending performances, Gerry McCambridge is the Mentalist – and he puts on a captivating 90-minute performance that fuses magic, mind-reading, future-predicting, and all kinds of psychological trickery.
With plenty of audience participation peppered throughout the show, you never quite know what to expect. However, one thing’s for certain: 4,000 shows later, McCambridge certainly knows how to leave his audiences in awe.
The Mentalist plays at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino six days a week (not on Wednesdays), and tickets can be snatched up for less than $50 ($42 plus tax) if you book ahead of time!
89 – Take the family to Excalibur’s 4D Ultimate Experience
Hidden away in the Fun Dungeon at Excalibur, the 4D Ultimate Experience is a family favorite – a thrilling attraction that combines state-of-the-art technology with beloved films.
Besides 3D visuals, the theatre also has motion seats and special effects like wind, water, and scent – collectively, it’s a multisensory journey that brings a whole new dimension (no pun intended) to your average cinema outing.
Whether you see Happy Feet, Yogi Bear, or whatever new show rolls into town, with tickets from just $12, it’s a cheap alternative that the kids will love.
90 – Get off the beaten path; head to Mystic Falls Park
When you need some reprieve from the bustling Las Vegas Strip, Mystic Falls Park at Sam’s Town could be exactly what the doctor ordered.
This 25,000-square-foot indoor park features a beautiful atrium with lush greenery, cascading waterfalls, and a peaceful ambiance (plus hummingbirds, fish, turtles, and birds that roam free).
After a stroll through the park, make sure to check out the mesmerizing Sunset Stampede laser light show – it brings the surroundings to life with vibrant colors and enchanting music.
91 – See acrobats and clowns at the free Circus Circus show
While it might not be considered the most glamorous hotel on the Strip, for what Circus Circus lacks in sophistication, it more than makes up for in free entertainment.
Every hour between 1:30pm and 8:30pm, the resort puts on a 10-15-minute show of trapeze tricks, balancing acts, juggling, clowns, and more — all totally free!
While you’re there: The Adventuredome, an indoor theme park with over 20 rides and attractions, is one of the most comprehensive options for kids on the Strip. It’s free to check out — just pay for the rides!
92 – Meet rescued animals at the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary
Hidden away in northwest Las Vegas (not too far from Floyd Lamb Park), Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is a refuge for a diverse range of exotic animals — from parrots to pigs, tortoises, and more, this community-driven sanctuary provides care for over 500 different creatures.
At just $1 for children and $5 for adults (plus a few bucks extra if you want to join a volunteer-led guided tour), it’s definitely one of the most underrated cheap things to do in Vegas.
93 – Hike through stunning Red Rock Canyon
A stunning conservation area located just outside of Las Vegas, Red Rock Canyon is known for its breathtaking rock formations, diverse wildlife, and bounty of outdoor activities.
Take a hike on one of the 26 different trails, embark on a horseback ride, or go for a leisurely drive along the 13-mile scenic loop.
Rock climbing enthusiasts can test their skills here too, with literally hundreds of climbing routes scattered around the area’s sandstone cliffs.
With its natural beauty and range of outdoor activities, Red Rock Canyon is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
Visiting Las Vegas on a budget?
There are a lot of expensive activities in Las Vegas. But if you know where to look, there are plenty of cheap and free things to do in the city too.
And one of the most popular ways to save a few bucks is with the Go City Las Vegas Explorer Pass. Designed specifically with tourists in mind, this pass grants access to over 45 different attractions and experiences in Las Vegas — such as the High Roller, Madame Tussauds, and the Eiffel Tower Experience — for one flat fee.
It works in one of two ways: the Explorer Pass or the All-Inclusive Pass.
With the Explorer Pass, you choose the number of attractions you want to visit and then have up to 60 days to see them all. Alternatively, the All-Inclusive Pass gives you access to as many attractions as you want on any given day – just pay for a 2, 3, 4 or 5-day pass.
Both passes also include discounts to a variety of local shops and restaurants, making it an even better value for first-time visitors. So if you’re visiting Las Vegas on a budget, the Go City Las Vegas Explorer Pass is well worth considering!
